My Final Decision! =)

Remember I was contemplating between Warwick's MORSE and Cass's Actuarial Science? Thanks to my seniors and friends, I've finally decided on my firm. You know who you are. =) My major concern was whether the interesting optional modules offered in MORSE worth the longer timeframe of the qualifying process to be an actuary. After seeking advices from many people, I would firm Cass as my first choice. Here I would give 3 good reasons why I would choose Cass over Warwick, but nevertheless both are very good schools and both courses are good. 1) Uncertainty of MORSE's optional modules   What do I meant by this? It's true that MORSE does offer lots and lots of good interesting modules that captured my interest. Particle physics, Quantum Phenomena, Number Theory, Numerical Analysis, Partial Differential Equations (PDE), Stars, Galaxies, Geometry and Motion and so on. Those are really interesting, and the attraction of me towards these modules was further intensified...

Warwick (MORSE) or Cass (Actuarial Science)?

This question has been revolving in my mind for a few weeks and now I'm still contemplating over this. People have been saying it ultimately boils down to what I want to do, and it's really up to me to choose which one to go. But I will evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of both schools and courses, and I believe this would be really helpful for anyone having the same dilemma with me. I would start the evaluation with MORSE (3 years) at Warwick. Its optional modules are enviably interesting and broad, a course structure that one wouldn't be able to learn in Cass. Stars, Galaxies, Number Theory, Particle Physics and Quantum Mechanics, just to give a few examples. It provides me a greater exposure to various topics in maths and physics, aside from probability and statistics that primarily involved in Actuarial Science. The reputation of Warwick as one of the top 6 universities in the UK also provides many career opportunities as graduates from MORSE are often sought af...

February's Updates! =)

Hello people! Sorry for the hiatus as I got very lazy to update my blog lately after a whole day of classes and gym training (again on alternate days). Happy news! I've dropped 0.1kg in 4 days! Well not that impressive, but my bodyfat percentage dropped from 28.9% (on Monday) to 27.6% (on Friday), which is surprisingly lower than that before CNY (28%)! Good progress I think, lose fats but gain muscles to accommodate the weight lose. My dinner for every weekday is just as simple (and healthy?) as follow: 1 apple, 2-3 small bananas, 2 slices of wholemeal bread with peanut butter spread and about 200ml of low fat milk.  That sounds a bit like my breakfast, without eggs. I'm done with my dinner. =) Yes I might get hungry when the time passes 11.30pm, so I would usually drink some low fat milk or maybe just plain water to kill my hunger temporarily. And I will sleep early, usually around 12.30am. Biological fact about hunger is, to my amusement, hormones balancing between lepti...

Counting Blessings! =)

Hello people! I'm back from a week of classes before Chinese New Year! Wait, YES Chinese New Year is coming soon! Excited? I bet you are, if you were a Chinese. Anyway, there are lots of things for me to update here! So ready? Here it goes. Saw that or not? Yea that's right! As you might have guessed, Taylor's College SJ actually invited a lion dance team to college, just to perform on our ECA Recruitment Drive. I was so freaking excited when I was watching lion dance performance, considering that it's been years since I watched lion dance performance for the last time. Ah, the bliss of childhood memories rushing all over. I literally cheered for the lion dance performers after they finished performing. =p (like a kampung boy haha, I know! -.-)  It was held yesterday, giving opportunities to new students to join new clubs and societies. When I looked at them choosing society by society, I suddenly thought of myself when I was in my first semester, back in Jun...

Blessing in Disguise! =)

'How's Cambridge decision?' and  'Got any reply yet?' are among the most common questions that I got these few days. The actual decision was revealed finally after a few months, on last Friday. Some of my friends (in fact a lot) got rejected as always, and some of them got pooled. I don't personally know of anyone who got offer from the University, until just now someone told me that one of my friends got offer. I would like to congratulate those who got offers and commiserate those who got rejected. To those who are being pooled and waiting to be fished, good luck and have faith in yourself! =) Unbeknownst to me, I was waiting for my decision like anyone else. Thanks to my senior, I was advised to stay calm and not to expect too much. Indeed, expectation would influence your immediate reaction at the moment you get to know your result. If you hoped too much, you will be very disappointed when you were rejected. If you did not expect much, you wouldn't fee...

Updates and Surprises! =D

Helloooooo! =p  It's been really long time but oh well, I hope you all won't blame me for such a long hiatus! What can I say, I will try to post everything recent happening to me here in a single post! But it's kinda illogical though for me to post everything since March this year, so here I would put everything in a list, just to update you all in case you don't know me well enough. Most of my friends especially those in Facebook would definitely know happening's in my life thus far. So here it goes:  1) Finished my AS in May/June 2011, and attained reasonably good results (although not something to be proud of yet grateful for that!) Thank God that I've got 3A's (Economics, Maths, Physics) and a B. Guess what, Thinking Skills. It doesn't really matter since most universities in general won't even look at this in their consideration to give offers, anyway. Ms. Yoong (my TKS lecturer) will sometimes stare at me as if she's gonna kill me cau...

My First Week Experiences in Form 6!!! ^_^

Well this week was pretty nice for me, and as I am in Physics class, my class have only 5 girls (3 Chinese 1 Indian 1 Malay) and others all boys! So, it was quite boring actually, if you know what I meant. =P On the second day, it was quite bored as most of the teachers didn't came in but only my class teacher. She explained to us about the format of Pengajian Am and out of my expectation, she has gained her Master in Psychology. Then, I took my chance to ask her about my dilemma, whether to take Physics or Accounting in my A-Levels. She couldn't really give me the answers, and eventually she advised me to go to the counselling room, to seek advices from the counselling teachers. There were a few students there taking personality tests, for they want to change from the Science stream to the Arts stream. Finally, after everything else was over, I still sticked to my initial choice and not to change to Arts Stream - I would be taking Physics instead of Accounting. =) On the t...

Form 6 in SMK Seri Serdang!!! ^_^

Hey everyone, I have just registered for Form 6 in SMK Seri Serdang today, and I would be studying there for one and a half months, before commence my A-Levels at MCKL in July intake. However, I still need to pay RM54.50 for the fees, since I would be using the facilities in the school. The teacher in charge of Form 6 was so nice to me, but she kept persuading me to pay the fees, and she said that it is for charity and donation to the school. -.- Nevertheless, my mom is willing to pay for it, rather than letting me keep rotting at home. (But I will try my best to delay the payment as long as possible! xP ) At least I can learn something new at school, rather than spending my precious time online at home. Well, I think the school compound is so beautiful, with the tranquil panorama and ideal environment for me to study Form 6, even for just one and a half months. Oh, and I saw quite a number of old friends too, from SMK Seri Kembangan and SMK Seri Indah. I'm really glad to meet them...

Farewell My Friends!!!! ~.~

10th of May 2010 - A very significant date to most of SPM'09 leavers as it is a day in which most of the students would end their 5 months long holiday and begin the new chapter in their life. As most of us know, some of our friends would be starting to register in their respective Matriculation colleges, while some of them would be starting to register in their respective secondary school to start their Form 6 STPM. Some of my friends have even reached the state of their Matriculation colleges and are now waiting for the registration day to come patiently, especially for those whose their houses are far in distance from the Matriculation colleges. For instance, some of my friends who are staying around Selangor state have already set their foot out and reached their respective Matriculation colleges in Kedah (ChangLun) and Perlis today. The main point I want to convey here is that, for those who have decided to go for Matriculation programme and Form 6 STPM, NEVER ever look back...

Yet, with my determination, or you may say me as stubborn boy for wanting my course so badly, I have dec...

No Matriculation Life For Me!!! T_T

Well, as the topic above, i guess i have to find other alternatives then. Wasted my 6 bucks, and made me sad due to the pathetic rejection for the whole night yesterday , the only paths for me now are A-Levels on my own, waiting for JPA and BNM scholarships applications, or maybe Form 6 STPM in the end if my parents still resist me to study A-Levels due to the risk i would bear upon graduation. Well, after spilling out all my miserable sadness yesterday night, on Facebook, MSN and the blog now, thanks to my friends who consoled me yesterday and today, I feel much better now. Oh, and thanks to Nicola, who made me laugh by sending 15 funny messages to my inbox this morning(3-4am), and constantly tried hard to console me with a huge hope that I would be feeling better soon. Thanks again! =) Well, Matriculation is not everything, and i did post up at Recom, stating that i won't accept it anyways if i get it(Well it was just a consolation to myself!). My hopes to study overseas on my ...

My invaluable results, plans and experiences!!!

Well, everything seems to be out of my way now and i don't think i have much choices due to the aftermath of the scholarships' result. Apparently, i failed to secure any scholarship that i have applied by using my trial result, which are Bank Negara Scholarship, Khazanah Global Scholarship and Yayasan Sime Darby. For the YSD, i have not even being called up for the interview, maybe due to my chosen course that i have wrote in the essay about my career aspiration. I should have choose the course offered by the YSD and that should increase my chances to be called up for interview. Anyway, I have to congratulate my fellow Recomer "slappyfin3" as he have successfully secured the YSD scholarship and would be doing chemical engineering in the United States. For the Khazanah Global Scholarship, fortunately i have been called up for the stage 1 interview and i did realized that my chances of securing it is almost zilch as Khazanah would only sponsor around 10 candidates i...
